In recent years, kitchen counters have evolved to be much more than just a quick spot in your kitchen to rest food and other miscellaneous items on top of. With tons of design options available and the ever-expanding home décor options, our kitchen counters have become an opportunity to extend your home décor style instead of just a place to collect clutter. Read on for 4 ways to style your kitchen counter!

1. GIVE TRAYS A TRY

If you’re reliant on the space for storage and use it heavily, try incorporating trays. It can be a stylish way to display essentials that you find yourself reaching for often. That way your heavily used items can look intentional and like they belong there instead of looking like clutter. In this space designed by Cheryl Luckett, she uses a tray to artfully frame a bowl of lemons. Using a bright fruit is also a great way to add a pop of color!

2. EMBRACE NATURAL ELEMENTS AND TEXTURES

You can utilize natural elements and textures in a variety of ways. Whether it’s granite or marble on the countertop or what you chose to place on top of it, organic elements really bring your space to life. Try branches, flowers, fruit bowls or even potted plants. Colorful planters combined with bright botanicals add life and vibrancy to this space. This space features a combination of natural materials, starting with the marble. The space uses woven trays, wooden cabinetry, and botanicals to complete the natural aesthetic of the space.

3. HAVE A MINIMALIST MOMENT

You can still take advantage of the prime location a countertop offers while keeping it stylish. Try using chic storage options, like a unique utensil holder as a simple statement maker. We love this example from designer Liz Goldberg of Carolyn Leona Design. She combines fresh flowers with functional decor to create a clean, minimal style.

4. ADD VISUAL INTEREST WITH PATTERN

You can make your kitchen counter look styled and interesting by incorporating pattern in an unexpected way! Try incorporating peel and stick wallpaper on your kitchen island. Adding a pattern to this space is an affordable upgrade that you can do yourself!
