Happy June! We’re so excited to share an all new home tour with you. This time, we’re heading to the chic suburb of Rosedale, Toronto for a tour of Vanessa Emam’s gorgeous home, designed to feel like living in a
luxurious modern tree house.

It was vitally important for Vanessa to create continuity between the interior and the exterior spaces. The terrace is made out of concrete - to match the interior concrete floors, and in order to expand the house intothe garden. Corten has been used around the planters, as well as Gabion walls.

The home’s surrounding exterior feels completely connected to the interior space, acting like an extended part of the home, thanks in part to grand windows that highlight trees in bloom, and the one-of-a kind living garden atrium. On the second floor, the kid's bedrooms also have uniquely placed windows, allowing them to feel like they're sleeping (and dreaming!) amongst the leaves.

On the front side of the house, a Japanese garden acts as a living green wall between the kids' rooms. This room features elements like chic pastel pink pillows, a freeform rug and gold hardware blending designer details to create a stylish yet fun children's room.

The home’s Great room, incorporating the kitchen, dining and living-room, feels like a loft with a 12’ high ceilings, a majestic wood-burning floating fireplace, and a large black & white Scavolini kitchen with a camouflaged bar cabinet & hidden access to the mudroom. Vanessa notes that the Scavolini kitchen and bar area were key elements that really upped the design of the living space.

The dining room features carefully arranged elements, like mixed and matched dining chairs, oversized art and plants that allow the space to feel airy and natural.

Lots of wood has been introduced in the garden, for the pool deck, as well as for the Cabana and the custom-made outdoor sofa, mirroring wood textures used in the interior space. Both the Cabana and the custom sofa are made out of cedar and have a matching horizontal slat design.
